East to West Pilates Mat Certification Exam Study Guide

WRITTEN EXAM:
This exam is 75% multiple choice, 20% fill in the blanks and 5% matching, with a bonus question. The purpose of this exam is to force you to internalize important information and to make it your own so you feel confident as Certified Pilates Mat Instructor.

The multiple choice section of the exam consists of questions taken from every section of the manual. Read the entire manual from cover to cover at least 3 times so that you will be able to recognize the correct answer out of the multiple choices. You do need to know the deep 6 rotators of the hip, along with a good understanding of anatomy in pilates.

The fill in the blanks questions are also taken from every section in the manual and specifically you need to know the order of the 5 steps in skill development in pilates mat training, which are;
1. concentration
2. centering
3. control
4. breathing
5. precision

The matching section is based on the basic anatomy terminology section on page 7 of the manual.

You must get 80% to pass the written exam. If you do not pass, you can rewrite the exam free of charge at any time, either at the East to West Yoga and Pilates Studio, Toronto or with an exam supervisor of your choice. Relax and learn all that you can to be all that you can be!!!

PRACTICAL EXAM:
One to two weeks prior to the Part II course date, each participant will emailed or mailed a specific section of either the basic, beginner or intermediate program as listed in the manual that is to be taught as part of the practical exam component of the exam, so that we will cover all three programs once again in the Part II: Pilates Mat Instructor Certification Course. The practical will not be graded and feedback is given with respect and positivity. It is a great opportunity to clear up any confusion and gain a deeper understanding of the these three levels of pilates mat programming from a set pedagogical perspective. You can always change the order or modify the programs in your teaching career, but you will have the training to provide a classical pilates mat system.

PART II COURSE AGENDA:
ALSO IN PART II, THERE WILL BE AN INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED PILATES MAT PROGRAMMING WORKSHOP. THE WORKSHOP IS FIRST ON THE AGENDA, THEN THE PRACTICAL AND FINALLY THE WRITT
